Warning Chimes

Warning Chimes

NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).

The warning chimes are designed to provide the driver with an audible warning that acts as a supplemental alert. The only deviation from this strategy is the air bag chime which is used to alert the driver that the primary alerting system (air bag warning indicator) does not operate. The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) controls all warning chimes based on messages received from external modules.

The warning device system consists of the following:

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

- Safety belt warning indicator switch (part of the safety belt buckle)

- Door ajar switches (part of the door latch)

- Parking brake indicator switch

- Key-in-ignition warning switch (part of the ignition switch)

- Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module (used for the Intelligent Access (IA) system)

- SJB (Smart Junction Box)

- Parking Aid Module (PAM) (used for the active park assist system)

The following chimes are controlled by the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) :

- Adaptive cruise control

- Air bag warning

- Belt-Minder(R)

- Door ajar

- Headlamps on

- Key-in-ignition

- Memory feedback

- Message center

- Parking brake applied

- Safety belt warning

- Perimeter alarm

- MyKey(TM)

- Forward collision warning

- Active park assist

- Turn signal/hazard
