Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
Principles of Operation
NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
The fog lamps are utilized as the Daytime Running Lamps (DRL). The SJB (Smart Junction Box) controls the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) by using various inputs to determine whether or not the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) should be illuminated. These inputs include:
- Ignition switch position
- Headlamp switch position
- Headlamps on or off
- Transaxle gear selection
When the DRL (Daytime Running Lamps) is active, the SJB (Smart Junction Box) energizes the fog lamp relay. This illuminates the fog lamps at full intensity.
