Pinpoint Test AA: DTC U0100:00

- U0100:00 (Lost Communication With ECM (Engine Control Module) /PCM "A": No Sub Type Information)- sets by the Headlamp Control Module (HCM) if data messages (vehicle speed, gear status) received from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing for greater than 5 seconds. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- HCM (Headlamp Control Module)

- PCM

PINPOINT TEST AA : DTC U0100:00

AA1 VERIFY THAT THE SCAN TOOL CAN COMMUNICATE WITH THE PCM

- Connect the scan tool.

- Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.

Can a vehicle session be established?

Yes
GO to AA2.

No
REFER to Information Bus to diagnose no communication with the PCM.

AA2 CHECK THE HCM (Headlamp Control Module) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCs

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: HCM (Headlamp Control Module) Self-Test.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the HCM (Headlamp Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0100:00 retrieved again?

Yes
GO to AA3.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

AA3 CHECK FOR DTC U0100:00 OR U0100 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0100:00 or DTC U0100 set in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module or the Restraints Control Module (RCM)?

Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
INSTALL a new HCM (Headlamp Control Module). REFER to Headlamp Control Module (HCM) . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
