Seats: Description and Operation

Seats

Front Seats

The front seats are equipped with the following systems:

- Six-way power seat track (standard equipment)

- Power recliner (standard equipment)

- Four-way power lumbar (standard equipment)

- Climate controlled seats (standard equipment)

- Memory driver seat (standard equipment)

- Seat side air bags (standard equipment)

- Occupant Classification System (OCS) system on passenger seat

Driver Seat Module (DSM)- Memory Seat

The power driver seat, power exterior mirrors and power steering column are controlled by the Driver Seat Module (DSM). The DSM (Driver Seat Module) is located underneath the driver seat.

This system allows automatic positioning of the driver seat, exterior mirrors and steering column to 2 programmable positions. For information on programming memory positions or recalling a stored memory position, refer to Memory Position Programming Programming and Relearning.

Easy Entry/Easy Exit

The memory driver seat easy entry/exit feature moves the seat slightly rearward for easier exit from the vehicle and returns the seat forward after entry. Refer to Principles of Operation in Seats Principles of Operation or the Owner's Literature.

Climate Controlled Seats

The climate controlled seat system is able to heat and cool the front seats. Each climate controlled seat is operated by push-buttons on the HVAC module located on the instrument panel. Each front seat temperature is then monitored and controlled by the Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM), located under the front passenger seat.

The dual climate controlled seat system contains the following serviceable components:

- Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)

- HVAC module

- DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module)

- Thermo-Electric Device (TED) and blower assembly attached to each front seat cushion and backrest

- Air filter attached to each TED (Thermo-Electric Device) and blower assembly (for cushion TED (Thermo-Electric Device), turn to the left to remove the filter) (backrest TED (Thermo-Electric Device) filter is not serviceable)

- Cushion TED (Thermo-Electric Device) adapter attached to the cushion frame

- Cushion and backrest foam pads

- Cushion and backrest trim covers

Power Recliner

The driver and passenger front seat are equipped with electro-mechanical backrest adjusters. The backrest adjustment switch is located on the side of the seat cushion side shield and is part of the seat control switch. The recliners are part of the backrest frame assembly and not serviced separately.

Power Lumbar

The driver and passenger front seats are equipped with a 4-way electro-mechanical backrest pad adjuster. Adjustments can be up and down as well as in and out. The lumbar switch adjustment is on the side of the seat cushion side shield and is part of the seat control switch.

Seat Side Air Bag

The driver and passenger front seat are equipped with side air bags attached to the seat backrest frame. If a seat side air bag deployment has occurred or for more information, refer to the appropriate procedure in Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.

Safety Belt Buckle Pretensioners

As part of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) the driver and passenger front seat safety belt buckles are equipped with pretensioners. The safety belt buckle pretensioner assemblies are attached to the seat track. The safety belt buckle pretensioners remove excess slack from the safety belt webbing and are activated by the Restraints Control Module (RCM) when the module detects a collision event force exceeding a programmed limit. For information or if a deployment has occurred, refer to the appropriate procedure in Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.

Occupant Classification System (OCS) System

The OCS (Occupant Classification System) system is standard equipment on all front outboard passenger seats. For information on diagnosing or servicing the OCS (Occupant Classification System) system, refer to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems.

Rear Seat

The seat is equipped with the following:

- Heated seat system

- Seat-mounted cup holders in the armrest

- Armrest storage compartment

- Armrest pass-through

Rear Heated Seat

This system allows the heating of the rear seat on passenger demand.

The components of the rear heat system include the following:

- Seat heater mats located on the seat cushion and backrest foam pad for the outboard occupants

- Heated seat module located on the driver side of the rear seat backrest

- Heated seat switches, located on the back of the front center console
