Cruise Control

Pinpoint Test D: DTC C1A67:96

Normal Operation

The adaptive cruise control system is enabled when the vehicle speed is set and the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), which is a radar sensor unit, determines the distance and relative speed of the vehicle that is in the path of travel. The C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) commands the ABS module over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN), which controls the brakes, to automatically apply the brakes to slow the vehicle to maintain a safe distance to the vehicle in front.

- DTC C1A67:96 (Forward Looking Sensor: Component Internal Failure)- sets when the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) detects an internal failure or invalid radar data with the radar sensor.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST D : DTC C1A67:96

D1 CHECK THE DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) SELF-TESTS

- Ignition ON.

- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait at least 10 seconds.

- Carry out the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

- Check the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.

Is DTC C1A67:96 recorded?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault condition. CHECK the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) connector, and the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) bus wire for corrosion. CLEAN and REPAIR if corrosion is present. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system or normal operation.

D2 CHECK FOR CORRECT C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) OPERATION

- Disconnect the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) connector.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) connector and make sure it seats correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new C-CM (Cruise-Control Module). REFER to Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. REPEAT the self-test.
