Pinpoint Test G: DTC U0100:00

Normal Operation

- DTC U0100:00 (Lost Communication With ECM (Engine Control Module) /PCM "A")- sets in continuous memory if data messages received from the PCM over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) to the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) are missing for greater than 5 seconds.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PCM

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST G : DTC U0100:00

G1 VERIFY THAT THE SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATES WITH THE PCM

- Connect the scan tool.

- Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.

Can a vehicle session be established?

Yes
GO to G2.

No
REFER to Information Bus, The PCM Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

G2 CHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DTCs

- Ignition ON.

- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait at least 10 seconds.

- Carry out the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

- Retrieve the continuous DTCs from the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module).

Is DTC U0100:00 retrieved again?

Yes
GO to G3.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

G3 CHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs

- Check for recorded C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs from the self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test Q (U3003:16) or GO to Pinpoint Test R (U3003:17). Pinpoint Test Q: DTC U3003:16 Pinpoint Test R: DTC U3003:17

No
GO to G4.

G4 CHECK FOR DTC U0100 OR DTC U0100:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Ignition ON.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0100 or DTC U0100:00 set in multiple modules?

Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
INSTALL a new C-CM (Cruise-Control Module). REFER to Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
