Pinpoint Test I: DTC U0126:00

Normal Operation

- DTC U0126:00 (Lost Communication With Steering Angle Sensor Module: No Sub-Type Information)- sets in the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) if data messages received from the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) (part of the steering gear (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI)) or ABS module (non-GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection))) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- PSCM (Power Steering Control Module)

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST I : DTC U0126:00

I1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to I2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

I2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the PSCM (Power Steering Control Module) GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) or ABS module non-GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to I3.

No
REFER to Information Bus, The PSCM (Power Steering Control Module) or The ABS module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

I3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) SELF-TEST

- Check for recorded DTCs from the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test Q (U3003:16) or GO to Pinpoint Test R (U3003:17). Pinpoint Test Q: DTC U3003:16 Pinpoint Test R: DTC U3003:17

No
GO to I4.

I4 RECHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U0126:00 still present?

Yes
For GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) engines, INSTALL a new PSCM (Power Steering Control Module) (part of the steering gear). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

For non-GTDI (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) engines, INSTALL a new ABS module. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.

If DTC U0126:00 is still present, INSTALL a new C-CM (Cruise-Control Module). REFER to Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
