Pinpoint Test T: DTC U0459:68

Normal Operation

The Head Up Display (HUD) module is designed with a temperature sensor internal to the module. Due to extremely hot weather conditions, the temperature sensor circuit is designed to allow the HUD (Head Up Display) module to disable under high temperature conditions which could damage the HUD (Head Up Display) module LEDs. The HUD (Head Up Display) module is designed with an LED prove out test. Upon each ignition cycle when the ignition switch is in RUN, the LEDs illuminate for a period of time indicating the HUD (Head Up Display) module is functional.

- DTC U0459:68 (Invalid Data Received From Head Up Display: Event Information)- sets as a continuous memory and on-demand DTC in the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) if the HUD (Head Up Display) module is over-temperature.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- HUD (Head Up Display) module

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

PINPOINT TEST T : DTC U0459:68

T1 CHECK FOR HUD (Head Up Display) MODULE LED PROVE OUT TEST

NOTE: Make sure to remove the vehicle from the extreme heat source or sunload condition prior to testing the vehicle.

- Ignition ON.

- While placing the ignition switch in RUN, observe the HUD (Head Up Display) module LEDs

Do the HUD (Head Up Display) module LEDs illuminate?

Yes
The HUD (Head Up Display) module LEDs are operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by extreme temperatures.

No
GO to T2.

T2 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND HUD (Head Up Display) MODULE AND C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) SELF-TESTS

- Check the HUD (Head Up Display) module and C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.

Are any DTCs recorded?

Yes
For C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts. Cruise Control

For HUD (Head Up Display) module DTCs, REFER to Collision Avoidance.

No
INSTALL a new HUD (Head Up Display) module. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
