14290 HARNESS CHAFE - DRIVEABILITY
SYMPTOMS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/5/2012

LINCOLN:
2012 MKS

ISSUE
The windshield wiper pivots on some 2012 MKS vehicles built on or before 2/5/2012 may chafe the 14290 harness. Driveability symptoms may indicate this condition exists.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Remove the cowl panel grill, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-02.

2. Inspect the 14290 harness for possible chaffing at the windshield wiper pivots.

a. If harness is not damaged, this article does not apply.

b. If harness is damaged at the wiper pivots proceed to Step 3.

3. Repair harness damage following wiring repair guidelines found in the Wiring Diagrams cell 5-1.





4. Secure harness to the retention features in the cowl area. (Figure 1)

5. Install the cowl panel grill, refer to WSM, Section 501-02.

Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
