Blind Spot Monitoring
Blind Spot Monitoring
NOTE: The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS(TM)) and Cross Traffic Alert (CTA) system share the same exterior mirror LEDs, Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left (SOD-L) and Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right (SOD-R) for system components.
BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) consists of:
- SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) (located at the lower LH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) (located at the lower RH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) customer ON/OFF feature (integral to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) message center)
- Exterior mirror BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) /CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LEDs (integral to the left and right exterior mirrors)
BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) is a vehicle feature that aids the driver in assessing whether another vehicle is within an area to either side of the vehicle extending rearward to approximately 3 m (10 ft) beyond the rear bumper. This area is known as the blind zone. The BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) alerts the driver to the presence of vehicles in the blind zone while driving on roads and freeways. The system is not designed to prevent contact with other vehicles or objects. BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) is designed to provide a warning to assist the driver in detecting vehicles in the blind zone.
Cross Traffic Alert (CTA)
NOTE: The BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) and CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system share the same exterior mirror LEDs, SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) and SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) for system components.
The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system consists of:
- SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) (located at the lower LH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) (located at the lower RH rear quarter panel behind the rear bumper cover)
- NOTE: CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) customer ON/OFF feature is not available on early build hybrid vehicles.
CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) customer ON/OFF feature (integral to the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) message center)
- Exterior mirror BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) /CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LEDs (integral to the left and right exterior mirrors)
The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system assists the driver in backing out of a parking space. The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system uses the SOD-L (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Left) , SOD-R (Side Obstacle Detection Control Module - Right) , exterior mirror BLIS(TM) (Blind Spot Information System) /CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) LEDs, a warning chime from the parking aid speaker and a message in the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) message center to notify the driver of impending traffic.
When the vehicle is in REVERSE (R) the CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system can detect a vehicle that is approaching at a speed up to 24 km/h (15 mph) and is approximately 13.7 m (45 ft) from the side of the vehicle on the left or right side. The CTA (Cross Traffic Alert) system's response time and performance can degrade if vehicles are approaching at speeds greater than 24 km/h (15 mph).
