Cooling System: Testing and Inspection
1. Fill cooling system with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water, then allow several minutes for trapped air to escape (bubble out) and for coolant mixture to flow through the radiator.2. Set cap at pressure relief position by installing cap to sealed position and then backing off to first stop.
3. Slide heater temperature and mode selection levers to maximum heat position.
4. Start engine and operate at fast idle (2000 RPM) for three to four minutes.
5. Shut engine off, then wrap radiator cap with a thick cloth and carefully remove cap.
6. Add coolant to bring level up to filler neck seat. Use caution when adding coolant to radiator to avoid hot coolant or steam blow out from radiator.
7. Install cap, then back off to first stop and operate engine at fast idle until upper radiator hose is warm (thermostat open). Shut engine off, then remove radiator cap cautiously and add coolant if necessary.
