DESCRIPTION

For the 1992 model year, the FX-15 A/C compressor shaft and compressor clutch hub assembly were redesigned.

The shaft and clutch hub assemblies now have 21 teeth instead of 16. This change was made to increase shaft durability.

The 16 tooth compressor shaft is no longer in production, however repair parts (shaft and clutch hub) are still available.

The following information should be noted when ordering compressor repair parts.

Replacing a 16 tooth compressor shaft and clutch hub assembly:





If a 16 tooth compressor shaft (ZZL1 61 450) and 16 tooth clutch hub assembly (ZZL2 61 L12) are available, they should be used. If not, replace them with a 21 tooth compressor shaft (ZZL1 61 450B) and clutch hub assembly (ZZL0 61 L11). Figure 1.

Replacing a 16 tooth clutch hub assembly:

A 16 tooth clutch hub assembly should be replaced with a 16 tooth clutch hub assembly (ZZL2 61 L12). Figure 1.

Replacing a 16 tooth compressor shaft:

If a 16 tooth compressor shaft (ZZL1 61 450) is available it should be used. If not, it should be replaced with a 21 tooth compressor shaft (ZZL1 61 450B). If the 21 tooth shaft is used, it will also be necessary to change the clutch hub assembly to a 21 tooth hub (ZZL0 61 L11). Figure 1.

NOTE:

If the clutch pulley has grooves worn into the friction surface, it should be replaced.

Replacing a 21 tooth compressor shaft and/or clutch hub assembly:

A 21 tooth compressor shaft and/or clutch hub assembly should always be replaced with a corresponding 21 tooth component. Figure 1.
