Engine - Oil Filling Precautions

B014/92

ENGINE OIL FILLING

APPLICABLE MODELS
1991-92 Navajo

DESCRIPTION

Rapidly pouring oil into the oil filler may cause the oil to backup into the fresh air inlet hose attached to the oil fill spout (see Figure 1). This could contaminate the mass air flow sensor and the air cleaner causing hard starting, no starting.

DESCRIPTION

Caution should be used when refilling engine oil. When refilling the oil, remove the engine oil dipstick first to improve crankcase ventilation and prevent overflow or back-up at the oil fill spout on the valve cover. Under no circumstances should oil be permitted to flow, or be forced into the fresh air inlet hose.

NOTE:
Be sure to reinstall the engine oil dipstick after refilling the engine oil.
