DESCRIPTION
The clear coat of the base coat/clear coat may crack or erode, turn while, flake or peel off the vehicle. This condition may be noticeable on the horizontal surfaces only. If the vehicle has this condition, follow the procedures in this bulletin to correct the paint.

NOTE:
The repair is a wet on wet procedure, sanding is not required after the seal coat is applied.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

NOTE:
Read this entire bulletin before starting repairs. Service Manager, make copies of this bulletin available to body shop personnel.

WARNING:
ALWAYS WEAR A NIOSH/OSHA RECOMMENDED VAPOR/PARTICULATE RESPIRATOR AND USE OTHER MANUFACTURE RECOMMENDED SAFETY EQUIPMENT.

1. Wash the vehicle with soap and water.
2. Verify the clear coat to base coat adhesion by applying 2 inch masking tape to the horizontal surfaces of the vehicle.

3. Pull the tape off quickly and check the adhesive side of the tape for paint removal. If paint was removed, the entire clear coat and base coat must be removed from the panel.
4. Wipe down the areas to be painted with a wax and grease remover. Use BASF # 900 PreKleano or equivalent.
5. Sand the affected surface with 150/240 grit sand paper. Remove only the clear coat and color coat, feather edges with 320 grit sand paper.

NOTE:
Do not remove the spray primer or E-Coat.

6. Blow off area to remove loose dust or debris.
7. Wipe the sanded area with a wax or grease remover.
8. Tack off area.

9. Mix and apply one coat of epoxy primer for adhesion and let dry per manufacturer's recommendations (20-30 minutes). Use BASF # DE 15, PA16, PR80 or equivalent.

NOTE:
Do not sand newly primed areas.

10. Mix and apply two (2) coats of the appropriate colored primer surface sealer. Use BASF # DP21, SOLO Color 1:1, then two (2) parts of mixture one (1) part DH 60, 30% PR 80 or equivalent.
11. Mix and apply two (2) coats or until hiding of base coat per manufacturer's label instructions. Apply the first coat to repair area only. Apply the second coat over the entire area. Allow a minimum of 15 minutes flash time before applying the clear coat. Use BASF # Diamond Base Coat Color and Diamond Reducer 1:1 or equivalent.
12. Mix and apply two (2) coats of urethane clear coat per manufacturer's label instructions. Use BASF # DC90 Diamond Clear Coat, LH50 Diamond Hardener 2:1 or equivalent.
13. Polish if necessary.
14. Clean and detail the vehicle and return to customer.
