APPLICABLE MODELS/VINS
1991-94 Navajo with power door locks
1994 B-Series with power door locks
DESCRIPTION
The power door lock actuator may disengage from the bracket when the door is closed. This occurs because the actuator assembly is not properly secured to the bracket. To correct this problem, follow the instructions in this bulletin.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the actuator following the instructions in section S of the applicable workshop manual.
NOTE:
Do not snap the actuator back into the bracket. Retention force may have deteriorated due to bushing damage.
2. Check the actuator for a tie-wrap strap as shown in the figure above.
^ If the strap is present, install the actuator and inspect the vehicle for other causes of actuator rod disengagement.
^ If the strap is not present, order the strap using the parts information in this bulletin before installing the actuator. Refer to step 4.
3. Obtain the tie-wrap strap.
^ Install the tie-wrap strap through the existing holes in the bracket. See figure above.
^ Wrap the strap around the actuator over the rubber water shield.
^ Pull the strap tight enough to remove any slack in the strap (2 lbs. pressure).
^ Cut the excess from the strap end.
NOTE:
The tie-wrap strap knot must be located away from the bracket holes to allow the retainer push pin to be installed in the bracket hole.
4. Install the assembly on the door according to the instructions in the workshop manual.
