DESCRIPTION

During cold starting some vehicles may experience a roaring noise from the fan clutch. The roaring noise is caused by a fully engaged fan clutch.

A modified fan clutch is now available as a replacement part. This new fan clutch does not fully engage during cold starting. As a result, the roaring noise is eliminated.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

If customer complains of excessive roaring during cold start:

1. Verify the fan is fully engaged and no slippage occurs.

2. If the fan is fully engaged, replace the fan clutch with the modified part.

Refer to Section E of the applicable Workshop Manual for removal and installation procedures.
