DESCRIPTION

During normal driving conditions or during idle, a "buzzing" or "rattling" noise maybe heard coming from the exhaust system. This noise may be caused by a loose heat shield attached to the muffler or catalyst.

INSPECTION & REPAIR PROCEDURE

If the above symptom is experienced, worm clamps should be installed to secure the heat shield to a muffler or catalyst. Refer to the following procedure for details.

1. Install two (2) worm clamps (ZZL0 13 458) to the catalyst or muffler as shown in Figure 1.

2. Align the clamps to secure the heat shield to the muffler or catalyst.

3. Tighten the clamps to no more than 6.8 N-m (60 in.lb.).

4. Trim the excess "ear" of the clamp to 2.5 cm (1 in.).
