SYMPTOM "B" - REPLACING THE HUCK RIVET ON THE FRONT FRAME AREA - DUE TO NOISESYMPTOM "B" DESCRIPTION
A "snapping" or "popping" noise may be heard from the area where the No. 1 crossmember attaches to the left frame rail. This noise is evident when driving on rough roads or going over bumps. This is caused by a loose "huck" rivet In the lower flange of the frame near the steering gear. Figure 1.
The rivet looks like a large pop rivet. To correct this problem, replace the "huck" rivet with a nut, bolt and washer assembly.
