Firestone Tire Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
The only tire size affected is a P235/75 R15 - If vehicle does not have this size tire, then NO inspection is necessary and tire is not subject to Firestone Recall.

OVERVIEW:

A. Verify tire size and type:
^ If tire a Firestone P235/75 R15 proceed to Step B.
^ If tire is any other size tire, then no inspection is necessary; customer is not subject to Firestone Recall.

B. There are two makes of Firestone Tires subject to this recall, check vehicle for the following:

^ If tire is a Firestone Wilderness AT P235/75 R15, then proceed to INSPECTION PROCEDURE.
^ If tire is a Firestone "Radial ATX" P235/75 R15, the customer should be directed to a local Firestone Tire Center for tire replacement.
^ If tire is any other size or make, no inspection is necessary; customer is not subject to Firestone Recall.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE:





1. Locate the DOT code on the inboard sidewall of all tires.

NOTE:
Clean the area if necessary in order to accurately read the tire code.

2. Check the DOT Code for the following:
^ If DOT code on any of the tires is VDHL, the customer should be directed to a local Firestone Tire Center for tire replacement.
^ If DOT code is anything other than VDHL on all tires, release vehicle to customer.

3. Inspect spare tire for the following:
^ If spare tire reads "TEMPORARY USE ONLY", then tire is NOT subject to tire recall, regardless of DOT Code.
^ If spare tire not a temporary tire, perform Steps 1-5.





4. Adjust Tire pressures of all tires using the chart as shown.
