Clutch Replace

1. Disconnect clutch hydraulic system master cylinder from clutch pedal and remove.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove starter motor from engine.
4. Remove hydraulic hose to slave cylinder retaining clip, then disconnect hose from slave cylinder. Clean area around hose and slave cylinder to prevent fluid contamination.
5. Disconnect the hydraulic coupling at transmission with coupling disconnect tool No. T88T-70522-A or equivalent by sliding the white plastic sleeve toward slave cylinder and applying a slight tug on tube.
6. Remove clutch housing to engine block attaching bolts. Note direction in which the bolts are installed.
7. Mark driveshaft and companion flange for installation, then remove driveshaft.
8. Remove nuts attaching transmission and insulator to No. 2 crossmember support.
9. Raise transmission slightly, then remove No. 2 crossmember support.
10. Lower transmission and clutch housing.
11. Mark assembled position of pressure plate and cover to the flywheel for installation.
12. Loosen pressure plate and cover attaching bolts evenly until pressure plate springs are completely expanded, then remove attaching bolts.
13. Remove pressure plate, cover assembly and clutch disc from flywheel. These parts can be removed through the opening in the bottom of the clutch housing on models equipped with a dust cover.
14. Remove pilot bearing, if required.
15. Install pilot bearing, if removed.
16. Install clutch disc onto flywheel, then insert clutch alignment tool No. T74P-7137-K or equivalent into clutch pilot bearing hole. Ensure clutch disc is properly aligned on flywheel.
17. If installing original pressure plate and cover assembly, align marks made during removal and position pressure plate and cover assembly onto flywheel.
18. Install pressure plate attaching bolts and torque bolts to specifications.
19. Remove clutch disc alignment tool.
20. Raise transmission and clutch housing assembly into position, then install No. 2 crossmember support onto frame.
21. Lower transmission and insulator into crossmember support, and tighten attaching nuts.
22. Remove transmission jack.
23. Install driveshaft. Ensure marks made on driveshaft align properly with mark on companion flange. Tighten attaching nuts and bolts to specifications.
24. Install housing to engine block attaching bolts in correct position as removed. Torque attaching bolts to specifications.
25. Install slave cylinder hydraulic hose, then the hose to slave cylinder retaining clip.
26. Install starter motor onto engine.
27. Lower vehicle and connect clutch hydraulic system master cylinder to the clutch pedal and to the dash panel assembly. Check clutch for proper operation.
