Radiator: Service and Repair






REMOVAL

CAUTION: Position the hose clamp in the original position on the hose, and squeeze the clamp lightly with large pliers to ensure a good fit.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the overflow hose.
4. Remove the fan shroud.
5. Remove the radiator hose, upper and lower.
6. Remove the transmission cooler lines.
7. Remove the radiator.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the radiator and tighten the bolts to 6-8 Nm (53-71 inch lbs.).

2. Install the transmission cooler lines and tighten to 16-24 Nm (12-18 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: When installing a new radiator on automatic transmission equipped vehicles, transfer the transmission cooler line fittings from the old radiator and install them on the new radiator.

3. Position the upper hose on the radiator neck so that the stripe on the hose is at the 12 o'clock position.
4. Position the lower hose on the radiator with the stripe on the hose at the 6 o'clock position.
5. Install the fan shroud and tighten to 6-8 Nm (53-71 inch lbs.).
6. Install the overflow hose.
7. Fill the radiator with the specified amount and type of engine coolant.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Start the engine and check for leaks.
10. Bleed the cooling system.
