Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature connector.
2. Check for damaged or pushed out pin(s), corrosion and loose wires.
3. Reconnect the sensor connector.
4. Connect the NGS to the data link connector. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Access ECT PID and record function on the NGS.
NOTE: Voltage values were calculated for VREF = 5.0 volts. These values may vary 15 percent due to sensor and VREF variations.
6. If ECT PID is out of specification, place the sensor in water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.
7. If not as specified, replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
