Visual Inspection Chart

Flow Chart No. 2 - Symptom - Horn sounds continuously.

Step 1
Short to battery feed in horn feed circuit.
1. Remove horn relay.




2. Does horn stop?

Step 2
Stuck relay contacts check.




1. Check for continuity across relay terminals (3 to 5).




2. Is there continuity?

Step 3
Short to ground in teed circuit to steering column connector.
1. Install horn relay.
2. Disconnect 6-pin connector located at base of steering column.




3. Do horns stop?

Step 4
Isolate horn switch.
1. Remove air bag module.

NOTE
^ Be sure to follow air bag removal safety precautions.

2. Connect 6-pin connector.
3. Disconnect 5-pin connector at air bag sliding contact.




4. Do horns stop?

Step 5
Isolate cruise control switches.

CAUTION
^ Ignition switch should be off. Remove the relay during this test.

1. Reconnect 5-pin connector at air bag sliding contact.
2. Disconnect wiring at cruise control switches.
3. Check for continuity across cruise control switch terminals: Pin 7 to Pin 1 and Pin 7 to Pin 3 (RH) and Pin 1 to Pin 7 and Pin 1 to Pin 5.




4. Is there continuity?

Step 6
Isolate steering wheel wiring.
1. Reconnect wiring at cruise control switches.
2. Disconnect connectors at each horn switch terminal.




3. Do horns stop?

Step 7
Isolate remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module.
1. Disconnect wiring connector from RAP module.




2. Do horns stop?
