OBD II Drive Cycle

NOTE: Only perform this procedure when instructed to do so.




1. Hook up NGS to Data Link Connector, start the engine.
2. Drive vehicle in any mode for 4 minutes.
3. Monitor ECT PID drive vehicle until ECT PID reaches 0.6 volts (180°F (82°C)) or greater.
4. Idle for 80 seconds.
5. Accelerate to 45 mph at 1/4-1/2 throttle for approximately 8 seconds.
6. Drive at a speed between 30 and 45 mph for 4 minutes.
7. Drive for 1 minute in the range of 30 to 40 mph at steady throttle.
8. Decelerate and idle for 80 seconds.
9. Accelerate to 55 mph at 1/4-1/2 throttle for approximately 8 seconds.
10. Decelerate at closed throttle for 10 seconds.
11. Accelerate to 55 mph at 1/4-1/2 throttle for approximately 8 seconds.
12. Decelerate at closed throttle for 10 seconds.
13. Accelerate back to steady throttle mode at 1/4-1/2 throttle for approximately 8 seconds.
14. Cruise at a speed between 40 and 60 mph (posted speed) for 5 minutes at steady throttle.
15. Drive at 25-40 mph with at least 6 stops for 10 minutes.
16. Decelerate and idle.
17. With the ignition key ON (vehicle at idle or engine off), check for Continuous DTCs.

CAUTION: After repairing a failure, always perform the After Repair Procedure to verify the fault has been corrected.
