Front Suspension
STABILIZER BAR AND LINKRemoval and Installation
Caution:
^ Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. A new part with the same part number or an equivalent part must be installed, if installation is necessary. Do not use a part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove and discard the front stabilizer bar link nuts and grommets.
To install, tighten to 25 N-m (2.5 kgf-m, 18 ft-lbf).
3. Remove the front stabilizer bar link studs and the front stabilizer bar links.
4. Remove the 4 stabilizer bar bracket bolts, stabilizer bar, brackets and bushings.
^ Discard the stabilizer bar bracket bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 40 N-m (4.1 kgf-m, 30 ft-lbf).
Note:
^ Inspect and clean the mating surfaces and the internal threads. Make sure all mating surfaces are free of foreign material and remove any thread locking compound from the internal threads.
Note:
^ In the event the self-tapping bolts cannot be installed in the frame, there is a kit available with tag nuts; consult your parts department for further information.
5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
