Wiper Pivot: Service and Repair

MOUNTING ARM AND PIVOT SHAFT REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

1. Cycle the wiper blades until they are in the straight-up position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Remove both wiper pivot arms.
4. Remove both linkage access covers.

NOTE: Position the engine compartment fuse box aside to remove the left-hand linkage access cover.




5. Reach through the right-hand linkage access cover opening and unsnap the wiper motor clip.




6. Disconnect the right-hand mounting arm (A) and pivot shaft from the left-hand wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (B). Move both away from the wiper motor (C).

7. Remove the right-hand and left-hand pivot nuts.




8. Remove both mounting arm and pivot shafts through the right-hand access opening.

CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to the wiper adapter and connecting arm clip, be sure the clip is fully seated before installing the adapter and connecting the arm clip on the wiper motor crank pin.

NOTE: Be sure to install the right-hand mounting arm and pivot shaft onto the wiper motor crank pin until it snaps into place.

9. Install in reverse order of removal.
