Camber and Caster Adjustment
CAMBER AND CASTER ADJUSTMENTNote:
^ The upper arm-to-frame bolts have set shims that must be replaced with washers to allow for adjustment of the arm in the frame slot.
1. Index-mark the upper arm-to-frame bolts, then remove and discard the upper arm-to-frame nuts and set shims.
2. Align the index marks and install the washers and new nuts.
^ Tighten the nuts until snug.
3. Using alignment equipment and the manufacturer's instructions, measure the caster and camber.
Note:
^ The vehicle should be supported by the lower arms to ease movement of the upper arm in the slot.
4. To adjust the caster and camber, refer to the following chart.
^ When making adjustments that require moving both the front and the rear of the upper arm, move both ends of the arm equally.
5. Tighten the upper arm-to-frame nuts to 133 N-m (13.6 kgf-m, 98 ft-lbf).
6. Recheck the caster and camber settings and adjust as necessary.
7. Check and, if necessary, adjust the front toe. See TOE ADJUSTMENT.
