Flex Plate: Service and Repair

FLEXPLATE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 4.0L





Removal

1. Remove the transmission.





2. Remove the bolts and the flywheel.
3. Clean and inspect the flywheel.

Installation





Note:
- Special bolts are used for flywheel installation; do not use standard bolts.

1. Install the flywheel.
- Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in two stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten the bolts to 13 Nom {1.3 kgfom,10 Ib-ft}.
- Stage 2: Tighten the bolts to 71 Nom {7.1 kgfom, 52Ib-ft}.
2. Install the transmission.
