Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR REMOVAL / INSTALLATION - 2.3L









Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. See Procedures.






1. Disconnect the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector.






1. Remove the plug for the crankshaft timing peg SST.






1. Install the special tool and turn the crankshaft pulley bolt to position the number one cylinder at top dead center.






1. Install the M6 bolt (1F2012-428).

NOTE:A new CKP sensor must be installed when ever the old sensor is removed.Remove the CKP.






1. Install an M6 bolt.

Installation

NOTE:A new CKP sensor must be installed when ever the old sensor is removed.






1. Install a new CKP, but do not tighten the bolts at this time.






1. Adjust the CKP with the Crankshaft Position Sensor Alignment Jig and tighten the bolts.






1. Connect the CKP electrical connector.






1. Remove the M6 bolt.






1. Remove the crankshaft timing peg SST.






1. Install the plug for the crankshaft timing peg.
