Fuel Pump: Service and Repair

FUEL PUMP REMOVAL / INSTALLATION









Removal Note

1. Remove the fuel tank. See Fuel Tank Removal / Installation.

2. Clean the area around the fuel pump mounting flange.

3. Using the fuel tank sender unit wrench SST, remove the fuel tank sending unit assembly locking retainer ring.

CAUTION:The fuel pump must be handled carefully to avoid damage to the float arm and filter.Remove the fuel pump assembly.

5. Remove and discard the fuel pump mounting gasket.

Installation Note

1. Clean the fuel pump mounting flange and the fuel tank mounting surface.

2. Install a new fuel pump mounting gasket

3. Install the fuel tank sending unit assembly with the float toward the rear of the fuel tank. Align the arrows molded into the fuel tank flange.

4. Install the locking retainer ring while compressing the fuel tank sending unit assembly into the tank.

5. Using the fuel tank sender unit wrench SST, tighten the fuel tank sending unit assembly locking retainer ring until it locks in place.






6. Install the fuel tank. See Fuel Tank Removal / Installation.
