Pilot Bearing: Testing and Inspection
PILOT BEARING INSPECTION
CAUTION:The pilot bearing is a sealed bearing and must not be immersed in any type of cleaning fluid.
1. Inspect the transmission input shaft pilot bearing for:
- misalignment and looseness in the flywheel.
- needle rollers for scoring, worn or broken needle rollers, inadequate grease or discoloration.
- seal leakage.
- Install a new pilot bearing if any of these conditions are present.
