WINDSHIELD GLASS
Removal
WARNING:To prevent glass splinters from entering the eyes or cutting the hands, wear safety glasses and heavy gloves when cutting the glass from the vehicle.
1. Remove the windshield wiper pivot arms.
2. Remove the A-pillar trim panel. See A-Pillar Trim Panel.
3. Remove the sun visors.
4. Remove the sun visor clips.
5. Lower the front portion of the headliner.
6. Remove the interior rear view mirror. See Interior Rear View Mirror.
7. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld area.

NOTE:Lubricate the urethane bond with water to aid the special tool when cutting the urethane seal.Using SST 164-R2450, cut the urethane adhesive from the windshield glass starting at the top center and work toward the bottom corners.
1. Using SST 164-R2459, distance the windshield glass from the body.
1. Using SST 164-R2450, cut the remaining urethane adhesive and remove the windshield glass.
2. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld area.
Installation
CAUTION:When installing urethane-installed glass parts, the vehicle must not be driven until the urethane has cured. Adequate cure time is specified on the drive away chart for each urethane product as the temperatures and humidity vary. Inadequate or incorrect curing can adversely affect the retention of the windshield.
1. Dry fit the windshield glass and center it on the setting blocks (if equipped). Make alignment marks with tape or non-staining grease pencil on both the glass and vehicle body.

CAUTION:Care must be taken to avoid scratching the pinch weld.Trim the remaining urethane on the pinch weld.
- The existing urethane surface should be smooth and free from cuts and contamination.
2. If reinstalling the original windshield glass, remove excess urethane from the windshield glass.
3. Clean the inside of the glass surface with an alcohol-free cleaner, making sure the ceramic area is clean.

CAUTION:Be sure to use the same brand and cure-rate products for the adhesive and primer. Do not mix different brands of urethane and primer. Refer to the Material Chart in this procedure.
NOTE:Sika uses the same black primer for the glass and pinch weld area.
If installing a new windshield glass, apply urethane glass primer according to manufacturer's instructions. Allow at least 6 minutes to dry.
1. Cut the urethane applicator tip to specification.

NOTE:Use either a high-ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane with less effort and a continuous bead.Apply urethane adhesive on top of the existing trimmed urethane adhesive bead on the pinch weld. Make sure that all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead starting and ending at the bottom of the windshield near the center.

CAUTION:Open a window to prevent the windshield glass from being pushed out by air pressure if a door is closed.Position the windshield glass, aligning the marks made previously.
3. Remove any excess urethane adhesive from the outside surface of the windshield glass.
4. Check the installation for air and water leaks through the urethane bond and add urethane adhesive where needed.
5. Install the A-pillar trim panel. See A-Pillar Trim Panel.
6. Install the interior rear view mirror. See Interior Rear View Mirror.
7. Install the sun visor clips.
8. Install the sun visors.
9. Install the windshield wiper pivot arms.
