WIPER MOUNTING ARM AND PIVOT SHAFT
Removal and Installation
1. Cycle the windshield wiper blades until they are in the straight up position.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. See Procedures.
- To install, tighten to 9 N-m {0.9 kgf-m, 80 in-lbf}.
1. Remove the RH and LH windshield wiper pivot arms.
1 Pull up on the pivot arm.
2 Pull out on the retainer tab.
1. Position the powertrain control module (PCM) connectors and harness aside.
- Remove the harness locator nut and ground stud.
- Disconnect the PCM electrical connectors.
1. Remove the RH access cover.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the access cover.
1. Position the power distribution box aside and remove the LH access cover.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the access cover.
1. Reach through the RH access cover opening and remove the wiper motor clip from the RH mounting arm and pivot shaft.
1. Disconnect the (1) RH windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft from the (2) LH windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft, and move both away from the (3) windshield wiper motor.
1. Remove the RH and LH pivot nuts.
- To install, tighten to 12 N-m {1.2 kgf-m, 9 ft-lbf}.
1. Remove the RH and LH mounting arm and pivot shafts through the RH access opening.

CAUTION:To avoid possible damage to the windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip, be sure the clip is fully seated before installing the adapter and connecting the arm clip on the windshield wiper motor crank pin.
NOTE:Be sure to install the RH windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft onto the windshield wiper motor crank pin until it snaps into place.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
