SPARK PLUG REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
Removal and installation
NOTE:See the chart in Step 7 to determine the condition of the spark plugs.
CAUTION:Do not pull on the spark plug wire as it may separate from the spark plug wire connector inside the spark plug wire boot.
4.0L Vehicles
1. Remove the right front tire and wheel.
2. Remove the right front fender splash shield.
All Vehicles
1. Use the spark plug wire remover to grasp and twist the spark plug wire boot back and forth on the spark plug insulator to release the connector.
2. Loosen the spark plug.

WARNING:Always wear eye protection when using compressed air. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.Use compressed air to remove any debris from the spark plug well before removing the spark plugs.
4. Remove the spark plug.
5. Inspect the spark plugs.
NOTE:Platinum-enhanced spark plugs should not require adjustment throughout their service life.
6. Check and adjust the spark plug gap as necessary.

NOTE:All B-Series with 4.0L engines have factory-installed, color-coded spark plugs. These spark plugs are not interchangeable between the right and left bank.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Use a small, clean tool to coat the entire interior surface of the spark plug wire boot with silicone dielectric compound when installing spark plug wires.
