LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTION

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007-2010 CX-7 vehicles
with VINS lower than JM3ER******301048 (produced June 15, 2009)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may exhibit a low beam headlight malfunction. The sealing between the headlight lens and the housing may deteriorate and allow moisture entry into the unit. The moisture may cause a control module short circuit.

The sealing performance of the headlight unit has been improved.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

WARNING:
Before performing this repair, be sure to read all Workshop Manual DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT SERVICE WARNINGS". Incorrect servicing of the discharge headlights could result in electrical shock. Refer to the following discharge headlight service warnings (section 09-18 DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT BULB SERVICE WARNINGS" DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE SERVICE WARNINGS" and DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE REUSE").

2. Replace the affected discharge headlight(s) and discharge headlight control module(s) according to the online instructions on M53 or Workshop Manual (section 09-18 FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION and DISCHARGE HEADLIGHT CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

3. Verify that all bulb sockets and bulbs are present and correctly installed.

4. Transfer components A - F (shown below) from the old headlight assembly to the new headlight assembly.

CAUTION:
If components A - F are not transferred to the new headlight assembly and properly installed, excessive condensation, water leaks or other headlight damage may occur. Any damage caused by missing components is not covered by warranty policy.





5. Perform the "HEADLIGHT AIMING" steps according to the online instructions on MS3 or Workshop Manual (section 09-18).

6. Verify repair.
