Suspension - Front End Squeak/Chirp Noises

LOW PITCH SQUEAL/CHIRP NOISE COMING FROM CORNERS OF DASHBOARD OR FRONT OF VEHICLE

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2007 - 2009 CX7 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3ER****9*300068 (produced before April 9, 2009)
2007 - 2009 CX9 vehicles with VINs lower than JM3TB****9*116607 (produced before April 9, 2009)

DESCRIPTION

Some customers may experience a low pitch squeak/chirping noise that appears to be coming from the corners of the dashboard or from the front suspension when driving at low speeds and going over speed bumps or uneven road surfaces.





This concern may be the result of unusual wear within the front strut mounting rubber (A). The mounting rubber has been improved to prevent the reoccurrence of this failure.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Replace RH or LH mounting rubbers with new parts according to MS3 online or Workshop Manual:

^ CX-7 (section 02-13 FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AND COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

^ CX-9 (section 02-13 FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AND COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)

NOTE:
Replace both sides only if both mounting rubbers squeak.

3. Verify repair.
