Seat Back: Service and Repair
FRONT SEAT BACK TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
WARNING:
- Handling the front seats improperly can accidentally deploy the side air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the front seats. (See Air Bag System Service Warnings) (See Air Bag System Service Cautions)
CAUTION:
- After removing a front seat, do not operate the slider lever. If the slider lever is operated, the left and right slide positions will deviate, and the slide adjuster may be damaged after the front seat is installed.
- Verify that there are no malfunctions in the sliding mechanism after installing a front seat.
- When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean rag so as not to damage or soil the seat.
- When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the M-MDS after installing the passenger's seat. (See Component Tests and General Diagnostics)
- When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the seat weight sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See )
1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 1 min or more.
3. Disconnect the seat warmer module connector.
4. Remove the following parts:
a. Front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation
b. Front seat side cover Front Seat Side Cover Removal/Installation
c. Front seat front cover Service and Repair
d. Front seat cushion Front Seat Cushion Trim Removal/Installation
5. Remove the headrest.
6. Slide hook A in the direction of arrow (1), (2), (3) shown in the figure to detach it from hook B.
7. Open the fastener.
8. Remove the clip C from the front seat back frame in the direction of arrow (4), (5) shown in the figure.
9. Remove the nut. then remove the holder bracket.
10. Remove the clip D then remove the lumber support lever.
11. Partially peal back the front seat back trim, release the pole guide tabs in the direction of arrow (6) shown in the figure, then pull the pole guide out in the direction of arrow (7).
12. Cut the bands securing the seat warmer module wiring harness and side air bag module wiring harness.
13. Remove the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad as a single unit from the front seat back frame by pulling them in the direction of the arrow.
14. Partially peal back the seat back trim from the seat back pad, remove rings C and velcro in the order of (8), (9), (10) shown in the figure, then remove the seat back trim.
15. Install in the reverse order of removal.
