MIL ILLUMINATION WITH DTC P2096:00
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS
2010-2012 CX-7 2.3L turbo vehicles with VINS lower than JM3ER******424994 (produced before April 26, 2012)
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a MIL illumination with DTC P2096:00 stored in memory.
The PCM logic control has been changed to eliminate this concern.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer complaint of a MIL illumination with DTC P2096:00 stored in memory.
2. Perform a Warranty Vehicle Inquiry using the eMDCS system:
- If the PCM has not already been reprogrammed according to TSB 01-020/12, "MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (M5P36) - NONCONFORMITY TO EVAPORATIVE EMISSION STANDARD" issued on June15, 2012, reprogram it now. NOTE: TSB 01-020/12 contains the program files needed for DTC P2096:00.
- If the PCM has already been reprogrammed according to TSB 01-020/12, "MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (M5P36) - NONCONFORMITY TO EVAPORATIVE EMISSION STANDARD" and DTC P2096:00 remains stored in memory, refer to the M53 online instructions or Workshop Manual for further troubleshooting information.
3. Verify repair.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Use the warranty information in TSB 01-020/12, "MAZDA SERVICE PROGRAM (M5P36) - NONCONFORMITY TO EVAPORATIVE EMISSION STANDARD" for warranty claim submission.
