Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect pressure and return lines from steering gear.
2. Raise and support front of vehicle and remove front wheels.
3. Separate tie rod ends from steering knuckles.
4. Remove intermediate shaft to pinion assembly boot clamp, then pull boot upward and remove bolt.
5. Remove heat insulator, then the bracket bolt and steering gear.
6. Reverse procedure to install. Torque mounting bracket to body bolts to 23-34 ft.lbs., intermediate shaft to pinion assembly bolt to 13-20 ft.lbs. and tie rod to steering knuckle retaining nuts to 22-33 ft.lbs.
