DESCRIPTION
A belt tension gauge has been established as a special tool to adjust the tension of the Vribbed belt properly.
USAGE
Please refer to the instructions included with the tool and take the following precautions to get the correct measurement.
1. Set the hook on the center between the two pulleys as shown.
2. Set the gauge parallel to the belt and confirm that the belt is securely held with the hook and is seated correctly on the hangers.
3. Repeat the measuring at least 3 times and confirm that the readings are not different.
4. Care should be taken while removing tool after measurement is obtained. If the reset knob interferes with any part of the vehicle, an incorrect measurement will be obtained.
Alternator Drive Belt:
LOCATIONS TO BE CHECKED
1. Vehicles equipped with both air conditioner and power steering.
a. Alternator drive belt.
Standard Values:
New: 45 - 65 Kg
Old: 40 - 60 Kg
Note: Care should be taken so the air conditioner compressor does not interfere with the hanger of the gauge. Interference between the compressor and hanger will result in an incorrect reading.
Air Conditioner Compressor and Power Steering Pump Drive Belt:
b. Air conditioner compressor and power steering pump drive belt.
Standard Values:
New: 80 - 100 Kg
Old: 60 - 80 Kg
Note: Use the remote cable as shown.
2. Vehicles equipped with only air conditioners.
a. Alternator drive belt. Same as 1-a.
b. Air conditioner compressor drive belt.
Standard Values
New: 80 - 100 Kg
Old: 60 - 80 Kg
3. Vehicles equipped with only power steering.
Standard Values:
New: 70 - 90 Kg
Old: 60 - 80 Kg
4. Vehicles without both air conditioner and power steering.
Standard Values:
New: 45 - 65 Kg
Old: 40 - 60 Kg
