Subject: 1983 626 Ignition Timing.
Description: Please correct the 1983 626 Workshop Manual, pages 5:20 and 21:16 and the Training Manual, page 5:1 with the following correction:
FEDERAL CALIFORNIA CANADA
Ignition 6~ at idle (with black-orange 6~ at idle (with distributor Same as Federal
Timing distributor vacuum line dis- vacuum line connected)
connected at the distributor and plugged).
NOTE: If the engine is fully warmed (engine coolant temperature in the normal operating range), it is not necessary to disconnect and plug the black-orange distributor vacuum line.
The ignition timing for the Federal and Canada models is advanced in additional 6~ (12~ total at idle) when both of the following conditions are met:
1) Coolant temperature inside the radiator is above 17~ C.
2) Coolant temperature inside the intake manifold is below 50~ C.
It is recommended that the black-orange distributor vacuum line on Federal and Canada models be disconnected at the distributor and plugged to prevent incorrect ignition timing settings.
