Subject: New Parts and Procedure for Wiper Motor Repair

New Wiper Motor Gear Parts:




Description: New parts have been established to repair the wiper motor gear.
Parts: List of newly established parts.

Repair Procedure: Step 1: Before starting to repair the wiper motor, diagnose the wiper motor operation as follows.

NOTE: This procedure is applicable to repair the damaged gear of the wiper motor.

^ Apply battery voltage to "L" (blue) wire and ground "LW" (blue/white).
^ Make sure the motor rotates smoothly without any drag.
^ If the motor either fails to operate or rotates erratically, go to Step II.


Step II: Disassembly and Replacement.

Wiper Motor Parts:




(1) Remove the wiper motor and frame assembly.

(2) Remove the wiper motor.

(3) Remove nut (1) and spring washer (2), tap out the crank arm (3).

(4) Remove the toothed washer(4) with a screw driver. File the surface of the shaft to remove scratches caused by toothed washer.

(5) Unscrew three end plate mouting bolts (6) and remove the end plate (7).

(6) Push the gear shaft (8) out and remove the dished washer (9).

(7) Apply lithium grease to the teeth surface of new gear shaft and the surface of the brass cam plate.

Pipe For Press-Fitting:




(8) Install a new gear shaft and place the dished washer in the housing.

(9) Press in the toothed washer with a suitable pipe, as shown in the figure.

End play: 0.2-0.5 mm (0.001-0.002 in.)

Link Rod and Crank Arm Aligned:




(10) Install the end plate.

(11) Tentatively install the crank arm (3).

Make sure the motor always stops at a certain specified position when the wiper switch is turned off.

(12) Assemble the motor with the link frame. (Apply grease to the ball pin area.)

(13) Align the line of the crank arm and the link rod straight. Then, tighten the nut (1).

Tightening torque:
60-100 kg-cm (4.5-7.0 ft.lb.)

(14) Reinstall the wiper motor and frame assembly after verifying the alignment of the crank arm and the link rod.
