Subject: Pinion Height Adjustment



Description: If the differential pinion height adjustment is necessary for rear wheel drive vehicles, the number on the end surface of the drive pinion should be used to obtain the adjustment value..


There are two types of markings:
1. Handwritten marking with electric pen. This number should be used for the adjustment value as indicated in the relevent pages of the Workshop Manuals.
2. No handwritten marking. If there is no handwritten marking on the end surface of the drive pinion, the adjustment value is zero (0).


NOTE 1. There are some cases of numbers stamped on the end surface of the drive pinion, however, these numbers do not indicate the adjustment value.

2. It is essential to check tooth contact after assemblying the differential even though the pinion height adjustment has been made. Please refer to the relevent pages in the Workshop Manual indicating the proper tooth contact.
