DESCRIPTION A vacuum delay valve and orifice have been established to improve driveability for
1983 GLC (FWD) with ATX produced prior to February 21, 1983.

PARTS INFORMATION
Delay Valve: E564 20 309
Orifice: E564 13 986
Vacuum hose routing label: BE39 69 044A (California model only)
PRE-CHECK Inspect the vacuum hose (red stripe) to the EGR approximately 6 inches from the EGR modulator valve. If a delay valve has been previously installed, the modification has been completed at TK and the ports. If no delay valve is installed, got to to the Modification Procedure, Step I.
MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
Step 1: Install the delay valve in the vacuum hose (red stripe) between tile EGR valve and the EGR modulator valve.
NOTE: This work can be done without removing the air cleaner.
1. Cut a 20 mm section from the vacuum hose at the location shown.
2. Install the delay valve with the arrow pointing toward the EGR valve.
Step II: Insert the orifice.
1. Remove the vacuum hose (green stripe) from the carburetor at the location shown.
2. Install the orifice as shown.
3. Reinstall the vacuum hose.
Step III: Replace the vacuum hose routing label (California model only).
Install the revised vacuum hose routing label over the old label located on the underside of the hood.
