SUBJECT VEHICLES:
DESCRIPTION
Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. has decided to voluntarily recall certain 1978-1983 GLC and 1979- 1982 626 models sold in the U.S. to check and retighten, if necessary, front seat belt anchorage bolts, specifically upper torso bolts which were improperly installed on a limited number of vehicles.
We decided to take positive action on this matter to emphasize to Mazda customers our concern for their safety while driving. This campaign is being conducted to inspect the front seat belt upper torso anchorage bolts for proper installation and to properly retighten these bolts, if necessary. The seat belt should also be tested for proper operation after retightening anchorage bolts.
Your utmost effort is requested in understanding our attention to the safety of the customers and also in furthering this campaign.

Torso Anchorage Bolts Installation:
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1. Detach the sash covers or blind plugs on sash cover on the pillar and expose anchorage bolts.
2. Check for proper installation of anchorage bolt.
3. Use provided torque wrench with 16 mm pocket and tighten the bolts until the wrench clicks.
NOTE: The top ceiling tends to twist around with the washer while tightening the bolt. Proceed with tightening until ceiling material is cut out by washer. Sash will cover the portion of cut, therefore, will not affect any appearance of top ceiling.
4. Attach sash cover or blind plug on sash cover.
5. Pull and retract belt to test for proper operation.

6. Attach provided marker on driver side of door right above the door striker as shown in the figure.
