Valve Signal


1. Run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, then shut off engine and connect tachometer to engine.
2. Connect positive probe of voltmeter to negative terminal of shutter solenoid valve electrical connector and ground negative voltmeter probe to body.
3. Disconnect electrical coupling (BY, GB) and, on vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, shift selector lever to "P" or "N".
4. Start engine and ensure voltmeter reads near zero volts.
5. Disconnect electrical connector of throttle sensor and ensure voltmeter reads approximately 12 volts and engine idles rough.
6. Connect coupling disconnected in step 3 and on vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, shift selector lever to "D", then ensure voltmeter reads near zero volts.
7. On vehicles equipped with automatic transmission, shift selector lever to "P" or "N" and ensure voltmeter reads near zero volts at any engine speed.
