Subject: Noise Filter Kit for 1982 & 1983 RX-7.


Description: Two noise filter kits are available for eliminating customer's annoyance with an audio "pop" noise in RX-7 vehicles.


Applicable
Vehicles: RX-7 vehicles equipped with Clarion Digital Radio.


Part Number: For 1982 RX-7:

Part No. FA01-76-990 includes:
1. Ground wire for power antenna.
2. LCX2 filter for intermittent wiper relay.
3. LLLCC filter for remote control mirror switch.
4. Diode for Lone Star air conditioner relay.

For 1983 RX-7:

Part No. FA42-76-991 includes:
LLLCC filter for remote control mirror switch.

Installation:

Removal Of Power Antenna:




Step 1. Install the ground wire to the antenna:

(1) Remove the right rear trunk side trim.

(2) Disconnect the antenna feeder and coupler.

(3) Remove the attaching nuts and take out the power antenna assembly.

Power Antenna Assembly:




(4) lnstall the ground wire to the antenna.

(5) Reinstall the antenna and connect the antenna feeder and coupler.

(6) Check the operation of the power antenna and install the right rear trunk side trim.

WIPER CONTROL LOCATION:




Step 2. Install the filter to the wiper control processing unit:

(1) Remove the two nuts securing the bracket for the control processing unit. The unit is located under the left side dash next to the fuse box at location X-16.

FILTER AND FILTER HARNESS:




(2) Disconnect the X-16 connector and install the filter harness.


(3) Reinstall the bracket. Ground the filter behind one of the two nuts supporting the bracket.

I-01 CONNECTOR LOCATION:




Step 3. Install the filter to the remote control mirror switch:

(1) Remove the plastic air duct beneath the steering column.

(2) Disconnect the I-01 connector located under the dash approximately 3" to the right site of the steering column.

FILTER INSTALLATION:




(3) Install the filter as shown.

(4) Reinstall the air duct.

RELAY LOCATION:




Step 4. Install the diode to the air conditioner relay:

(1) Locate the air conditioner relay 2" behind the left front strut tower at location G-18. The relay has four wires with colors B, R, Y, and L.

DIODE CONNECTIONS:




(2) Use scotch locks to connect the yellow
(Y) wire of the diode to the yellow
(Y) wire of the relay. Connect the blue
(L) wire of the diode to the blue (L) wire of the relay.

NOTE: Step 4 is necessary, only for the vehicle equipped with Lone Star Air Conditioner.
