A/T - No Forward Movement Or Reverse
TSB 88-26 (June)SUBJECT: JATCO F3A SPECTRUM KF-100
PROBLEM: No movement forward and reverse
POSSIBLE CAUSE: Torque converter
SOLUTION:
The Jatco F3A and the Chevrolet Spectrum KF-100 transaxle oil pump is driven by a shaft splined into the torque converter. If the internal drive splines are stripped in the torque converter, or if the oil pump drive shaft is damaged, a "no-movement" condition will occur.
Before removal, check line pressure (Figure 1). If line pressure is "0", remove transaxle and inspect torque converter and oil pump drive shaft.
To check drive splines, insert oil pump shaft all the way into the torque converter and lift it up approximately 1/4 of an inch (Figure 2). If pump drive shaft is not lifted up before checking, splines may appear to be good.
The F3A Torque Converter has been modified to improve the durability of the splines inside the converter since August 1985 production GLC vehicles. New torque converter part number is: FT01 19 100A
