Cylinder Head Assembly: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION OF CYLINDER HEAD
Turn the crankshaft so that the piston of the No. 1 cylinder is at top dead center, and then drain out the coolant, disconnect related wiring harness, hoses, and then remove the parts in the numbered order shown in the image. Installtion is the reverse order of removal.





Cylinder head bolts
Gradually loosen the cylinder head bolts in steps in the numbered order shown in the image. When tightening them, gradually tighten in steps in the reverse order, finally tightening each one to the specified torque.





Cylinder head assembly
1. Use a rag to thoroughly clean away dirt and grease from the top of the cylinder block.
2. Place the gasket in position.

Caution:
^ Use a new cylinder head gasket.





3. Install the cylinder head (complete)

Cylinder head (complete) tightening torque: 80-86 Nm (59 65 ft.lb).

Caution:
^ Tighten evenly, and in the order shown in the image.
^ Use the new style surface treated plain washer
