Powertrain Management: Service Precautions
WARNING:
1. Always use 12-volt batteries as a power source.
2. Do not attempt to disconnect the battery cables while the engine is running.
3. NEVER apply battery power directly to a component unless told to do so in a test procedure.
4. Before removing any parts, turn off ignition and disconnect battery ground cable.
5. Do not try to disassemble the control unit.
6. When replacing or servicing any fuel system part, be sure to observe the following:
a. Put a "CAUTION: FLAMMABLE" sign in the workshop.
b. Be sure to furnish the shop with proper fire extinguishing equipment.
c. Be sure to disconnect battery ground cable before any service work is done.
d. Do not operate the fuel pump without fuel in the lines.
e. Put any drained fuel in an explosion-proof container and put the lid on securely.
